Portable and Modular Exhibition Stands

"Portable" covers a wide range, from a banner stand in a shoulder bag to a 20ft modular wall in three wheeled cases. What they share is that your own team moves them, puts them up without tools and takes them home afterwards. No crates, no crew, no warehouse.

What makes an exhibition stand genuinely portable

Four tests. A stand that fails any of them is portable in the brochure and not in the hall.

  • It assembles by hand. No tools, no fixings to lose, no sequence to remember. Two people.
  • It packs into cases, not crates. Wheeled hard cases that go through a goods lift and fit in a van.
  • Nothing is loose. On a foldable SEG frame the sections stay connected through their hinges, so the kit that leaves the case is the kit that comes back.
  • The graphic travels with it. Dye-sublimated fabric folds into the same case, weighs very little and comes out without a crease.

The range, from smallest up

Portable display stands and banner stands

One case, one person, a few minutes. Widths from narrow 2ft portrait stands up to 8ft backdrop spans, straight or curved, single or double-sided. These are what travel to the conference rooms, the recruitment days and the sponsor positions between the big shows. See banner stands.

Pop-up exhibition stands

A hinged aluminium frame that opens as one piece and takes a single tensioned fabric graphic with no panel joins across the artwork. 8ft to 20ft wide, straight or curved. This is the fastest build of anything that counts as a wall. See foldable SEG pop up displays.

Portable trade show walls and backdrops

Modular tension fabric walls from 8ft to 20ft, straight, curved or shaped, with the graphic spanning the full run in one piece. More configurations than a pop-up, slightly more build time. See tension fabric walls and backdrops.

Portable exhibit booths

Complete stands at 10x10, 10x20 and 20x20 — wall, counter, header, lighting and often a tower or hanging sign, shipping as one order in wheeled cases. Typical kits run from three to sixteen pieces, all published by name and dimension on the product page. See the complete booth kits.

Portable display shelves, counters and panels

Counters with internal shelving, L-shaped displays carrying shelves at up to 15kg each and an iron TV rack taking a 26 to 65 inch panel at up to 35kg, display towers from counter height to over 10ft. These are the pieces that turn a backdrop into a working stand. See counters and podiums and towers and hanging signs.

Modular, and why it matters more than portability alone

A portable stand you can carry is useful. A modular one you can recombine is an asset.

Every family here is built on the same extruded aluminium system, typically 32mm tube at 1mm wall, with a milled channel that accepts a silicone edge graphic. That means the wall sections from a 10x10 become part of a 20x20, a counter bought this year matches a wall bought next year, and a new campaign is a new fabric skin seated into hardware you already own.

Custom modular exhibition stands are configured from those same parts into a layout designed for your space — bespoke arrangement, standard components, and none of the storage, crew and drayage costs that a fabricated custom exhibit carries for its whole life.

Portable and backlit

Light is normally the first thing sacrificed for portability, and it does not have to be. Collapsible backlit SEG walls and portable light box exhibition stands fold into a wheeled case like any other kit, with the LED array inside the depth of the profile and a 200g backlit fabric graphic across the face. Draw is low enough to run off a standard booth outlet. See backlit displays and SEG lightboxes.

Custom modular exhibition stands vs portable displays

The two are not alternatives, they are degrees of the same thing. A portable display is bought as a configuration and used as it comes. Custom modular exhibition stands are the same parts arranged for your space — modular booth design for flexible event spaces, where the stand is reconfigured between a 10x10 in spring and half a 20x20 in autumn rather than replaced.

Portable display shelves for exhibitions and display panels for exhibitions are part of the same system, so shelving bought with a counter this year fits a wall bought next year.

The best portable exhibition stands for small businesses

If you are buying your first stand and doing a handful of shows a year, the combination that gets used most is a 10ft pop-up wall, one counter with storage, two or three spotlights and a banner stand. It fits a 10x10 with room to work, it goes up in half an hour, it travels in two cases, and the banner stand goes out on its own to the smaller events.

Add a tower or hanging sign when you move up to a 10x20, because at that size being found from the entrance starts to matter more than the wall itself.

What is included

Every complete kit is priced with the aluminium frame, the printed silicone edge graphics, all connectors and feet, and a wheeled hard case — not hardware with print quoted separately. Each product page publishes the exact part dimensions, the piece count and the packed weight.

Send artwork and the hall's floor plan and a 3D mock-up comes back within 24 hours, before print. Shipping to mainland USA is included, production runs to a 48-hour lead time, and the hardware carries a two-year warranty.
